a. hazy, sentimental vocals over dreamy late afternoon lo-fi beats that drip with the just right amount of sweetness. this clocks in just under thirteen minutes; i wish it had double the runtime. Favorite track: Easy.

It's Gradual 03:02
i feel like a fraud: i feel like i'm waiting to get caught i feel a hand on my shoulder it feels like a ruse: it feels like i'm running with no use i want to be told that it's over don't fear the other side, you're doing fine; I trust you don't leave the kitchen light, I see it shining through you it feels like a dream: you hold me together at the seam so how do i get so distracted? it feels like a ruse that i could uncover if i choose. I'm writing it down to redact it don't fear the other end: I've seen it bend toward you this thing is yours to mend, or yours to leave behind you

Easy 02:37
To wake up and see you, it seems so right to know that there's nothing to prove, to know you're alright you make it look easy you make it look easy now you make it look easy you're holding me up somehow to fall down beside you, to laugh every night to stop and remind you, we're going to be fine you make it so easy you make it so easy now you make it so easy you're holding me up somehow

After You 02:47
Can you give me a night? can you give me the time to fall away from you? Can you borrow a light? Call tomorrow if it seems like I forgot to choose Even if I'm wrong I know I'm having a good time, I hope you know that too Even if we're wrong, I guess there's not much on the line. I'm right here next to you Gonna give it a try. Gonna give you everything you seem to want me to. I say it every night: you know that every song I write is just for you. You're falling down, I guess we really done it now. I fall in after you. We're falling down, we're laughing stupid on the ground like we're supposed to do.

Wife 01:11
I want to make this worth your time. I want to see your life aside from the way it fits in mine. I'm going to be a useful part of your life. You're going to be alright, we're going to be just fine. Because I'm stupid and self-absorbed, but that's not all I am I'm just trying to figure out the other parts and you're quiet and unassured, but I know that you've got a plan you're just trying to figure out where you should start.

At the end of this song I'll stop feeling alone You can take everything I've got, make me your home I didn't mind the fall but here's what's after: ten thousand days, ten thousand dreams of greener pastures. I didn't mind the fall, I didn't mind the laughter ten thousand days and they just don't get any faster At the end of this song I might feel more alive Not a verse not a single line to sit down and write I didn't mind the fall but here's what's after: ten thousand days, ten thousand lines in a final chapter I didn't mind the fall, I didn't mind the laughter Ten thousand days and they just don't come any faster And I would do what's right if I could tell how this one ends i never know what's right, but now I know how to pretend

about

Recorded over the last 10 months or so here in montreal. All the songs are by me dave, although the song "easy" lifts a melody from fumio itabashi's "watarase." These are for my wife, perhaps more explicitly than before.
