Learn 03:17
if i can give this a last try can you just say why we’re holding out it’s never seemed like a good time, but it’s alright, it’s over now and i need to learn to love something, i need to learn to love something again nothing’s quite like the last time, i want to run back the tape again sometimes i might have crossed a line, it’s alright but it all depends and i need to learn to love something, i need to learn to love something again
2.
i plug it right into my heart again i’ve seen the pictures, i’ve wasted all my wishes i’ll run the signal and i’ll play pretend the patent’s pending (this joke is never-ending) i’m crawling home thru the backyard again i’m such an asshole, i’m ruining all my best clothes i see the light before the bad dream ends: it’s thru the window, into a calming unknown sweet dreams on the timeline (i’m getting vulnerable and stupid) sweet dreams on the timeline (can’t tell if it’s ever worth it) (it’s never really worth it) i plug you right into my heart again you’re such an athlete i left it all incomplete i sent a signal up into the air: what are we learning? the infrastructure is burning sweet dreams on the timeline (i’m getting vulnerable and stupid) sweet dreams on the timeline (can’t tell if it’s ever worth it) (it’s never really worth it)

Laugh It Off 03:53
we’re gonna get this right, i know it’s not what you wanted we can leave the lights, you need to say that you want it let’s ruin the whole damn thing, i feel alive but it’s fading let tear the whole damn thing, i feel alright: it’s amazing we can laugh it off like it never happened we can laugh it off like we never cared and it gets real dark when we can’t stop laughing alright already, alright already i’m gonna take the blame: i said, “it’s just what i needed” it’s never quite the same, because it’s never completed let’s burn the whole thing down, i can’t believe it’s accepted i’ll take the long way down: it looks like we’ve never left it we can laugh it off like it never happened we can laugh it off like we never cared and it gets real dark when we can’t stop laughing alright already, alright already

Get Better 03:08
think you're right, it's much easier to let this lie i think you're right, but have you seen this? get a load of this guy and now you know what we've known forever: it doesn't show, and it won't get better get the lights but i can't sleep until you say that it's alright (let this slide: i don't mean it but it sounded kind of nice) and it just works and we grow together it doesn't hurt, but it won't get better guess you're right, nothing matters and it cut me like a knife guess you're right, nothing matters but i'm glad to be alive and we get hurt, we do alright together it won't get worse, and it won't get better will i go first, or will we go together? it won't get worse, and it won't get better
6.
Six Weeks 02:18
you see an opening, right? you know we're going to make it thru i hold my breath for the night (there's nothing else that i could do) let's take one more look before you go because it hurts whenever i speak this sounds like the only song i know it goes: i love you i love you i'll see you in six weeks i pull the pieces apart and spread them out across my room i wasn't sure at the start but now i know it's all been true let's take one more look before you go because it hurts whenever i speak this sounds like the only song i know it goes: i love you i love you i'll see you in six weeks

credits

released January 4, 2018

These songs were written and recorded mostly in Montreal during the fall and winter of 2017. The bass parts on 'laugh it off' were recorded in Patricia's apartment in Winnipeg (the vocal part must have also been recorded there, I don't think I would have been able to sing at that volume in the place I was living in montreal at the time). The little sample at the end of 'get better' is from an interview with Yukio Mishima in the late '60s. The album art features a picture I took somewhere along the Yucatan Peninsula in the summer of 2016. These songs are all for Patricia.

Thanks for listening. Please pay something for these if you can afford to do so.
